If All You Have Is A Hammer…

So I have been pounding LinkedIn and FaceBook feeds hard with blog posts from my personal site, and in many ways getting very detailed on some elements of my private life.  In reviewing my approach to social media, I’ve decided to increasingly tailor my content to a given channel.

In the past, I’ve discussed editorial calendars, and the automation of posting/content creation.  I’ve reached a point now where I can mix the two together without any overhead if I follow the calendaring approach discussed previously.  There’s a strong chance that new content will be getting posted daily on one of the channels outlined below from my personal account.  A secondary online project that I have soft launched will start to see more regular content landing over there in the coming weeks.  There is so much to share with you!

Being authentic and direct while also being pumped about my content will continue to come across in my posts regardless of the platform that it lands upon.

LinkedIn – I’ve decided to pull back on LinkedIn with recipe posts, soccer coaching posts, and things that may not be so relevant to our trips to our daily scrums and board room briefings. Instead, I’ll be landing content that is more relevant to a distributed workforce, innovation engines, leadership, and productivity enhancing steps that you can take. If you want to see the whole picture, hit my markbadeau.com site on the regular for that.

FaceBook – My personal feed has been essentially conjoined to my profile page – which is now linked to my blog and to my Instagram.  I’ve been blasting friends and family with a slew of posts from my 84 Days of posts, and many times – it has resonated.  Well, I’m going to tailor the hits to my personal friends/family that I have over on this platform too.  If you want to get the hits from FaceBook – like my page for those updates.

Every now and then, I’ll light up my personal feed with things from my IG or blog via a share from my page or my soon to be launched YouTube channel that is going to be focusing in on concerts and live shows.  Live music is a passion of mine.

Instagram – If you have found me over there, the posts are short, direct, and typically snips from the blogs/long form content I’ve shared previously.  I’ve also dropped a few things as ‘behind the scenes’ that are specific to me and to my adventures.  You likely will not find everything from this channel over on Facebook.

Twitter – This is just now getting lit up, and it is going to be lined up with the Instagram approach with more behind the scenes and micro posts.  I have a sense that this is going to be the most personal avenue, as I have already seen somethings being stated in the Boston sports scene that warrant a direct reply…  Let me just say, I cannot wait to see all the Patriots haters go nuts again this season…

In General – You will start to see things getting tailored out to FaceBook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter. The content being shared will not be blasted across all platforms as a singular event, instead I’ll be taking the care to ensure the content is aligned to the audience on that platform. Still figuring the content/platform mix.

Thanks to everyone that has hit me up privately – the response to the posts has been very humbling and many days overwhelming. More relevant and valuable content is in the LinkedIn hopper.  I can tell you that.
